Official Documentation
All members of Nexus Gaming Studios and Project: Los Angeles are expected to read, understand, and abide by the following rules. These standards exist to ensure a professional, immersive, and welcoming environment for everyone in our community.
All players and staff members are entitled to a respectful experience. Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, and bullying of any kind — whether directed at individuals or groups — are strictly prohibited. Every member of this community deserves to engage in roleplay free from toxicity, intimidation, or personal attacks.
All in-game chat must remain appropriate and respectful. Excessive profanity, offensive language, and disruptive communication are not permitted. Chat channels exist to support roleplay and community interaction — abuse of these channels undermines the experience for all players.
The use of exploits, cheats, scripts, hacks, or any unauthorized third-party software to gain an unfair advantage is absolutely prohibited. This undermines the integrity of our roleplay environment and the experience of every legitimate player in the server. There are no exceptions to this rule.
All decisions made by staff members in active situations must be respected. Staff act in accordance with our policies and are entrusted to maintain order and fairness across the server. If you believe a decision was made in error or was unjust, you are always welcome to submit a formal appeal through our official channels in Discord — do not argue publicly or attempt to circumvent staff authority in-server.
Deliberate trolling with the intent to disrupt, ruin, or devalue the roleplay experience of others is not permitted. This includes intentionally breaking immersion, refusing to engage in legitimate roleplay, and any behavior clearly designed to cause frustration rather than contribute positively to the session.
Any real-life threats, regardless of intent, will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Similarly, the sharing, researching, or threatening to share another person's private personal information — including real name, location, contact details, or any identifying data — constitutes doxxing and is a serious violation of both our rules and applicable law.
Killing, injuring, or seriously harming another player without a valid, established roleplay reason is strictly prohibited. Every act of violence in Project: Los Angeles must be grounded in a realistic and justifiable in-character scenario. RDM destroys immersion, wastes the time of other players, and degrades the quality of the server environment.
Examples of RDM
Intentionally using a vehicle as a weapon against other players without valid roleplay justification is prohibited. Vehicles are a core part of Los Angeles roleplay — their misuse for the purpose of harming players destroys immersion and creates an unfair, frustrating experience for the community.
Examples of VDM
All players must realistically value the life of their character. In any situation involving a credible threat to your character's life — such as a firearm pointed at you, a physical confrontation with multiple armed individuals, or any scenario in which a reasonable person would fear for their safety — you are expected to respond accordingly. Ignoring threats or acting unrealistically to gain an advantage constitutes a failure to roleplay.
Examples of FRP Violations
If your character dies during a roleplay scenario, you must treat it as a fresh start. You may not return to the scene of your death for a minimum of 10 minutes, and your character has no memory of the events that led to their death. This rule exists to preserve narrative integrity and prevent players from using out-of-character knowledge to influence ongoing situations.
Leaving the game intentionally to avoid an ongoing roleplay scenario — including arrest, injury, death, criminal consequence, or any active interaction — is strictly prohibited. Disconnecting mid-situation to escape outcomes is not only disrespectful to other players but fundamentally undermines the structure of serious roleplay. If a genuine emergency requires you to leave, notify staff before doing so.
Forcing unrealistic actions or outcomes onto another player without giving them the opportunity to respond, or performing actions that would be physically impossible in a real-world context, constitutes powergaming. Roleplay is collaborative — both parties must have fair and realistic opportunities to respond to any given scenario.
Examples of Powergaming
Using information obtained outside of your character's in-game knowledge to influence in-game decisions or actions is metagaming and is strictly prohibited. Your character can only know what they have legitimately learned through in-character interactions. Information shared in Discord, observed on a stream, or heard from another player outside of the game must never be used to gain an advantage in roleplay.
Examples of Metagaming
All members of the Nexus Gaming Studios Discord are expected to treat one another with respect at all times. Harassment, bullying, hate speech, discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, sexuality, or any other characteristic, and excessive personal attacks are not permitted. Maintain civil discourse even during disagreements — constructive conversation is always welcomed, toxicity is not.
Sharing explicit, sexually suggestive, or otherwise adult content of any kind is strictly prohibited across all channels. This includes images, videos, links, and text. Nexus Gaming Studios maintains a community standard appropriate for all members, and NSFW content has no place on our platform.
Impersonating any staff member, moderator, developer, or other community member — whether through usernames, profile pictures, or deceptive communication — is strictly prohibited. Impersonation undermines trust within the community and may be used to manipulate or mislead other members.
All members must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines at all times. Violations of Discord's platform-level policies reflect on our community and will be treated as violations of our own rules as well. This includes age requirements, prohibited content policies, and acceptable use standards.
Spamming messages, emoji floods, reaction abuse, or excessive mentions disrupts the flow of conversation and is not permitted. Self-promotion, advertising external servers, services, or content without prior approval from staff is also prohibited. Any unsolicited promotional content, malicious links, or scam material will result in immediate action.
All messages should be kept relevant to the channel in which they are posted. Off-topic discussions, graphic or disturbing content, and illegal material are not permitted in any channel. Political or controversial discussions must be approached with maturity and respect — inflammatory rhetoric intended to provoke conflict is not welcome here.
Sharing your own or another person's private or identifying information — including real names, addresses, phone numbers, social media accounts, or any data not voluntarily and publicly disclosed by that individual — is strictly prohibited. Protect your own privacy and respect the privacy of others at all times.
Voice channels are shared spaces. Microphone spamming, screaming, playing disruptive sounds or soundboard content, and intentionally talking over others are not permitted. Music bots and audio tools may only be used in designated channels as specified by staff. All voice channel participants are subject to moderation at staff discretion.
Staff members are selected and trusted to enforce community standards fairly and consistently. Do not argue with staff publicly, attempt to undermine their authority, or recruit other members to challenge a decision. If you believe a staff action was unjust, you are entitled to submit a formal appeal through the designated support system — this is the appropriate and respected way to address concerns.
Support tickets are a serious and important resource for addressing genuine issues. Do not open tickets as a joke, to troll staff, or to submit false reports against other members. Staff volunteers their time to address these requests — be patient, be honest, and be respectful. Spamming staff with pings or messages for faster responses is not permitted.
Usernames, profile pictures, and status messages that are offensive, explicit, designed to impersonate staff or other members, or otherwise inappropriate are not permitted in this server. You may be asked by staff to change your username or profile picture as a condition of remaining in the community.
